AUTHOR'S POV:

The scene starts in front of a massive building, India's biggest law firm- 'AGR LEGAL AND ASSOCIATES'. A Mercedes stopped in front of the building from which a middle-aged businessman got down. His aura screamed richness and power. He was being followed by his female secretary who was carrying his bag and a file.

The inside of the building had a professional atmosphere. Several people clients or employees could be seen. There were a few lawyers in the black lawyer coat who seemed to be busy with their respective cases.

The secretary went to the reception and asked in a professional tone.

'Is Mr Randhawa here?'

'Yes mam, do you have any appointments fixed?' The receptionist asked to which she replied a yes.

'15th floor mam' the receptionist said.

The man and his secretary approached the elevator and went to the 15th floor. After spotting the cabin of the person they were searching for, they went towards it and knocked on the door.

'Come in' the response came from inside.

As they opened the door, they saw a man sitting inside. Although he had an intimidating aura, his face was quite charismatic. He leaned back on his chair, noticing the arrival of the man and his secretary. His signature smirk appeared as he realized what was about to happen.

'Good to see you Mr Randhawa' the man said in a buttering tone.

'I wish I could say the same' Mr. Randhawa replied in a not-so-sweet manner, causing the man's face to fall with insult. But eventually, the man composed himself.

'Have a seat please' he further spoke.

'So, what got you here Mr Khanna?' He asked while reading the file which the man got.

'Oh you know everything already' he said and Mr Randhawa hummed.

'You already know that my son was caught to be involved in a property-related case. My son has a dream of opening a 5-star restaurant, but the landowner is refusing to sell the land as it is his ancestral property. We offered him double the actual price of the land, but he still refused to sell it. To get the land, we made fake papers showing that the land belonged to us and that the landowner had illegally captured it. We want you to anyhow get that land to us.' Khanna described.

'I hope you will take this case. And don't worry about your fees at all, you will be paid in fortunes' he spoke, deliberately flexing his richness.

Mr Randhawa made a call on his phone and hung up without speaking. He got up from his chair and walked slowly around the table, before standing in front of the man. He took off his watch and coat in a deliberate and measured manner, not giving any indication to anyone of what he was planning to do.

After that, he opened a few buttons of his shirt and rolled up his sleeves to his elbows, showing a good amount of his skin, making the secretary drool over him.

'Can you please lead up privacy, miss' he said to the secretary, looking at her.

She looked at her boss and he nodded giving her permission making her leave the room.

'Ah, What happened?' He asked a bit nervously.

'Get up' Mr Randhawa spoke in a no-nonsense tone which made him furrow his brows.

'Excuse me?'

'Get up Mr Khanna!' "He spoke sternly, and the man stood up without asking any more questions."

"He aggressively cracked his knuckles and delivered a punch to Khanna's face, causing significant impact."

'What the hell!!' Khanna shouted but another punch landed on his face.

As the words left his lips, one more punch was thrown on his face followed by a slap.

'What the hell are you doing??!!' Khanna screamed.

'WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING??!!' Randhawa roared in his face.

'I just want you to deal with our case that's it! What's the issue?' Khanna shamelessly spoke which made him more furious.

Randhawa twisted his hand behind his back, making him scream in pain. Towering over him, he dangerously spoke-

'KARAN RANDHAWA DOESN'T DEFEND CRIMINALS!'

And threw Khanna on the floor harshly.

'Now get out!!' He shouted at Khanna.

'You'll pay for it!' Khanna whispered in fear and ran out of the cabin from where the security officers took him.

The person was none other than KARAN RANDHAWA himself, one of the biggest lawyers in India and the inspiration for law aspirants across the nation!

KARAN'S POV:

I took a deep breath to calm myself. Chugging the water from the glass, I wore my watch and relaxed on the chair. People like these are a pain in the ass. I will die but will never fight any case for them even if they pay me in millions!

The ringing of my phone made me open my eyes and the name flashing on it brought a small smile to my face. It was a video call from Mom.

My parents have been staying at my sister's place for a month now. Ritika Di is two years older than me and is a certified Chartered Accountant. She is currently two months pregnant and my parents went to her to take care of her during this time.

'Hey Mom!' I picked up the call and spoke.

'Hi beta' Mom said.

'Where's dad?' I asked.

She turned the camera and Dad was sitting on the bed with Ritika di, my sister, and Jiju. Di was laying her head on Dad's shoulder and he was caressing her head while Jiju was feeding her fruits. I chuckled looking at the scene.

Mom took the phone close to them and they noticed me.

'Hi, brother!' Di chirped.

'Kaisi ho di?' I asked.

'Can't you see? Kuch bhi karna mushkil karke rakha hai sabne mera!' She complained with a pout and we all laughed.

'How are you beta?' Di's father-in-law asked.

'I am fine uncle' I answered with a smile.

'Ache se seva karvalo aap sabse!' I mocked Di.

'Iss seva ko karne me jo sukoon hai na Karan, It can't be defined in words' Jiju spoke while feeding a a bite of apple to Di and we all smiled seeing his care.

'Tu bhi aaja seva karne' Di said.

'I wish I could come, but don't worry, iss weekend pakka aaunga!' I said and she grinned.

We talked for a few minutes. The initial months are going hard for her as I could see that on her face. But all this is going to be worth it when she will be having her baby in her arms.

'Now you rest, I've got some work to do' I said and hung up the call after saying a bye to them.

My parents, Gauri and Adarsh Randhawa are among the biggest and most successful litigators and legal advisors of India and the owners of one of the most prestigious law firms in India. This firm- AGR, Adarsh-Gauri Randhawa LEGAL AND ASSOCIATES is named after them.

Hence I chose law as my career. No, not because my parents are from this field, but because I had a genuine interest in advocacy.

I have always been very close to my sister since always, who played a great role in shaping me into the person I am today. She is two years older than me and is like a second mother to me.

When my sister and I were children, our parents were always busy with their work, so we rarely had any family time with them. However, we understood that their profession required them to be busy, and we never complained.

Since we didn't get much time with our parents, we spent most of our childhood with my best friend's family. His father is also dad's best friend.

When she got married five years ago, I felt as if a part of me left me that day. I used to feel empty inside me when she went. Her husband, Siddharth Khurana, manages a real estate firm that belongs to his family.

I studied some case files and analyzed them and then took a break from work. I instructed my assistant to create a brief on the files for me. Then, I stretched a bit and went for a walk to refresh myself.

I wandered around for a while and decided to grab a cup of coffee. After finishing my coffee, I returned to my cabin and continued with my task.

I opened a file related to a corporate case involving an architectural firm. The case is related to counterfeiting and contract breaches.

A smile crept on my face as I remembered something, or someone to be precise. That day, I felt a genuine attraction towards a particular person. Not because she was extravagantly beautiful and was looking like an angel in that beige high-neck top and black pants and minimal accessories with a smartwatch. But because of her innocence. People like her with such a pure heart are very rare to find in this cruel world.

Really? It's as if you weren't drooling over her beauty!

I mean, yeah I was enticed by her beauty as well. But her heart attracted me the most.

I shook my head taking myself out of her thoughts with difficulty. I opened the file and studied the brief that my assistant prepared. After verifying a few points, I kept the file aside and finished the left-over tasks for today.

I was a little free today as I didn't have any cases to deal with that I had to look after personally and not anything important too. As I didn't have anything left to do for now, so I studied the news updates of this week and made short notes on them. Being a lawyer, I always need to stay updated with everything from everywhere.

After a couple of hours, I left as it was late evening already and I was feeling a bit lazy. And sometimes, it's okay to change a few things in a monotonous schedule without any particular reason. Isn't it?

I started the engine of my car and began to drive in the direction of my home. As my parents were absent and the cook was on leave for a week, I have to prepare meals on my own.

Bachhe par kitna pessure hai dekh rahe ho!

Anyway, it's good that I know basic cooking at least.

I took a shortcut as I wanted to reach home ASAP. The road was kind of a deserted one, as it was almost empty with a few lights aside.

I stretched my hand to change the ongoing song. I slightly averted my gaze downwards to adjust the volume and slowed the speed.

Before I could collect my focus back to the road, a person suddenly appeared in front and collided with my car.

Oh No!

I immediately turned the engine off and got down. It was a girl and a backpack hung on her back.

'I am so sorry mam, are you okay?' I asked worriedly but she didn't reply.

I bent down and tapped her shoulder but she was still. I reluctantly held her shoulders and turned her face to me. But what I saw made my body go numb.

'TARA?!'
